Why did you forgot American Airlines flight 77?

My Father worked for BEA then BA and i remember the Tridents as a young child flying to Cyprus Via Athens before the Turkish invasion we stayed in where the UN zone is and flew to and from Nicosia Airport even flew on one of the Cyprus Airways tridents the one sitting alone at the old airport. Flew to Alicante on them plus even when very small flew BEA Comets to Malta via Naples three times Flew Vanguards and Viscounts Jersey, Amsterdam, But the Trident was always my favourite plane then.

Here is a story about the Colmcille, and how casual access to these planes has changed over 50 years! I drove with my mother, father, brother, and a non-family car owner (we didn't have a car) to Shannon in the Autumn of 1974 to drop my mother off for her first flight to NYC (or to anywhere, for that matter) where she would catch a connecting flight to Hartford, CT, to be picked up later by my sister who was studying in the US at the time. My mother flew out on a Boeing 707, and I'm sure my father and driver friend repaired to the airport bar for a pint, so I was left to roam around the concourses, of which there were few at the time. In my family I was - and am - the only airplane buff, so I was delighted to see pulled up to a gate/skybridge a 747 (Colmcille perhaps, or was it Columba?). I had just arrived at the large plate glass window that looked out on the front of the jet when what was then called an air-hostess came along and asked me if I would like to see the inside of the plane, to which I immediately said yes, and being 13 years of age in less sophisticated times, she held my hand as we walked on to the plane. She brought me to the cockpit where I was able to sit in the co-pilot's seat for a few minutes, and then she told me to inspect the rest of the plane. I was forgotten about after that, apparently, because my efforts to get off were blocked by the return of the duty-free shoppers with their bags of perfumes, cigarettes and hooch, and out of nowhere - it seemed - an announcement was made that the plane would soon depart. For a brief instant I contemplated staying where I was and pleading ignorance once in the air, but the thought of my mother having to deal with me in NYC and her trip turned upside down got me to the front door once almost everyone was re-boarded. The air-hostess then remembered that I was onboard, and had a laugh with her co-workers over the potential snafu, and I walked myself off the plane and back to the concourse. When I finally found my brother who had been looking for me, he made it clear once I told him the story that he didn't believe a word of it. I moved to the US 9 years after that first encounter with a 747, and have flown back and forth many times in some of those jets. Take care.

Flew on BA061 Super VC-10 in April 1976 LHR/NBO/DAR/SEZ After Seychelles the flight became BA037A CMB/HKG/HND. Beautiful aircraft and superb flight to the Seychelles. Much preferred the BOAC livery than the red tail of BA. Our country produced a first class aircraft.🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Thank you for this video, I love United and the 767. My favorite United livery is the current one with the updated all blue tail. However, I have always loved the 1990s battleship gray livery, too.

1:23 this exact aircraft was involved in an incident in 2018, Southwest Airlines flight 1380. The plane was headed from New York to Dallas .The engine exploded mid flight, and debris flew into a window which broke it. A woman was sucked half way out, before losing consciousness and passing away. The flight was diverted to Philadelphia. The plane was written off and has not flown since the accident.

These birds are going to be gone once southwest takes delivery of its 737-MAX 7 aircraft

I July 1993 I flew from Glasgow to Toronto a unaccompanied minor was put in my seat and I was upgraded to business class seat number 61 J I always wanted to fly air Canada and fly on a 747 and see the upper deck I done all 3 I was at the rear of the 747 on the return to glasgow 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Legendary aircraft, so special in its frame. It reminds me so much memories of my childhood when I admired him in SXB and MRS airport. I had the luck to fly with him on two occasions : such a roaring noise. Ok, it had a limited range, but it flew extremely fast. Imagine : MRS SXB from take off to landing in 55 mns!! Actually the Air Inter pilots would testify that it had to be piloted almost as a Mirage. No surprise because it was the same designer : Dassault. Proud to have known this beautiful French aircraft which didnt have the success that it would have deserved...
